Case Study: Kinopalace Helsinki
The need:
Kinopalatsi (Kinopalace), Finnish for ”Cinema Palace,” is a 10-screen,
1,694-seat theater multiplex that was doing a bustling business, but it
wanted to update its refreshment area. This area, to be named Delicasy
World, would have something for everyone, including candy, chips, ice
cream, juice, coffee, and grilled food.
But with the larger selection, the theater also needed a way to help
guide its customers through the large menu. Digital signage fit the bill.
After all, ”What could be better in a theater than moving images?”
said Mr. Henri Kurki, theater manager.
Our solution:
Black Box recommended a multimedia system consisting of Black Box
Wizard Multimedia Extenders and six 46" wide-screen displays, which
would be mounted across the top of the refreshment area.
One of the reasons the cinema chose the system was because of
how easy it is to use and control. ”That’s the best part,” said Mr. Kurki.
The theater’s sales manager, Mr. Petri Laine, composes the content on
his office PC and sends it over the network to the screens.
Mr. Kurki said, ”The system has worked perfectly and the image
quality is very good.” He added, ”The displays bring more life to Delicasy
World, attracting people and making it much more interesting.”
All of this has helped the theater’s bottom line. ”Thanks to the new
system, we’re saving a good deal in printing expenses,” said Mr. Laine.
”Before we went digital, we had to worry all the time about the printing,
delivery, and mounting of posters. Now, I can do everything with just a
few keystrokes.”
What’s more, sales and profits in the refreshment area have increased,
and ROI on the system was quite short, according to Mr. Laine.
