9.2.3 Network
Use the Network options to configure, check, and test the iCOMPEL network connection.
Note: The iCOMPEL displays its active IP address in large text on the splash screen during the boot up process.
Click the tab for the options you require:
Ethernet – Configuring IP address and DNS settings.
3G Modem – Configuring a 3G network connection.
Wireless – Configuring a wireless connection.
Network Status – Checking current IP address and DNS values.
Order – Designating the preference order for using network connections.
Tests – Running ping, trace, DNS lookup, and TCP dump tests.
Ethernet:
To configure IP addressing, complete the following information then click the button and reboot the
iCOMPEL:
Select how the iCOMPEL obtains its IP address:
DHCP – Select if the iCOMPEL will obtain its IP address from a DHCP server on your network. If the
iCOMPEL cannot find a DHCP server, it defaults to an IP address of 169.254.1.1.
Static – Select if you are specifying an IP address for the iCOMPEL. Enter it in the IP Address field.
If you select this option, the iCOMPEL enables the Static Address Settings and Static DNS
Settings fields.
Optional. For ease of reference, enter a name for the iCOMPEL. Only available if your DHCP server supports
this feature.
If you selected the Static Ethernet setting, enter the addresses required:
IP Address – Enter the IP address for the iCOMPEL.
Netmask – Specify the address range for the iCOMPEL subnet.
Default Gateway – Enter the gateway IP address if the iCOMPEL uses one.
If you selected the Static Ethernet setting, enter the addresses required:
DNS Search Path – Enter the path needed to reach the Domain Name Server (DNS).
DNS Nameserver – Enter the IP addresses of up to three DNS nameservers.
